Can You Use Oil As a Moisturizer?

Well for me the answer to this question is yes! One of my favorite ways to moisturize my body after my shower is to use almond oil. Using a straight oil, like almond oil or grape seed oil, is a great way to make your skin silky smooth without worrying about putting harmful chemicals on your body. I have even used olive oil and coconut oil as moisturizers, the only difference is these two oils have a heavier scent than an oil like almond oil.

One thing you have to be careful of when using a straight oil as a moisturizer is to not put too much oil on. If you over oil your skin it will take a long time for the oil to actually sink in and you will be oily instead of soft. Not really the result we are looking for here.

A great way to portion control your oil is to follow the "less is more" rule. A little almond oil goes a long way so start with a small amount and if you need more you can put more on. Another fun thing about using oils as a moisturizer is you can scent them yourself with essential oils making your moisturizer even more good for your skin. :)

A Cup of Tea

Sometimes relaxation comes in a way you may least expect it. I say this because I am not a huge tea drinker but for some reason I felt like tea was going to be my key to relaxing tonight. And sure enough my cup of tea is warm, calming, and unwinding.

This reminds me how being open minded and trying something new is always a good thing. For a while now I have been trying to live my life outside-the-box meaning that I'm not confining myself to only being one way or placing stereotypes on my life. Instead I am trying to reach for my goals without doubts weighing me down and I'm trying to be thoughtful of everything I do, taking note of when I victoriously break the boundaries of my box.

So, having a cup of tea when it might seem unusual for me is another breakthrough!

I think we all live in a "box" in some way, whether we are being put there socially, relationally, and even by our own selves. So join me in figuring out what your boxes are and then break free and live life to its fullest! We will go on the journey together. :)

Taking time for you :)

While I was driving home from work today my mind began to work and plan and think of everything I had to do when I got home. I was listening to music while these thoughts permeated my space when all of a sudden I realized I needed to take a moment for myself and just listen to my music in peace and quite with no distractions.

My thoughts became a distraction. It was difficult at first to clear my mind and just let it rest for a minute, but once I was able to put all my busy thoughts aside I became calm and peaceful. This peacefulness reminded me that I needed to do something for myself today, something that would make me feel beautiful and happy.

Sometimes it can be hard to remind ourselves to take time for us and our well-being when life goes by a mile a minute. But this personal attention is so important. Because if we do not feel beautiful and whole how can we share beauty and wholeness with those around us.

Take time for yourself today. That might mean waking up a little early to go on a walk, or stopping for your favorite hot chocolate on your way to work. Do something for yourself that makes you feel beautiful and alive because you are worth it.

Best Dressed at the Oscars

Though the reason for the Oscars may be to award achievements in filmmaking, the event has become just as much a fashion runway for the stars and their designers. My pick for best dressed at the 2016 Oscars goes to Cate Blanchett. She is breathtakingly stunning in this gown by Armani with jewelry by Tiffany & Co. The delicate seafoam color of the gown compliments Blanchett's eyes and brings out the peach tones in her skin. The dress is unique and fantastical and Blanchett wears it with effortless elegance.
